Ketone and quinone compounds which are pollutions in the environment have been studied xanthone, Thioxanthone and1,4-diaminoanthraquinone. From electrochemical studies, the compounds that can be disproportionated by reacting with superoxide. Should have reduction potentials more positive than dioxygen. From the study, the mechanism of decomposition of quinone compounds are better understood. This can be used in the removal of quinones in the environment.
