The purposes of this research were to study physical and chemical properties of soils in the project of solving problems concerning rock salt mining, Kantharawichai, Maha Sarakham. Samples weredivided in to three areas: soil in a weir nearby rock salt mining; rice field soil; and general soil. Results from this study showed that moisture was 3.008-10.205%; bulk density was 1.2- 1.6 g/cm3; electrical conductivity was 0.21-4.43 ms/cm; the range of pH was 4.22-5.44; organic matter was 0.025 -0.091%; total nitrogen was 0.012-0.022%-N; available phosphorous was 1.273-16.140 ppm and potassium was 47.550-371.000 ppm. Total density of these three areas were not statistical significant difference at 0.01.
