Hexagonal Mesoporous Silica (HMS) with molar ratio of SiO2 : 0.25 HDA :8.3 EtOH : 100 H2O was synthesized using hexadecylamine (HDA) and rice husk ash (RHA) as a template and a silica source, respectively. Rice husk was refluxed with 3 M hydrochloric acid at 100oC for 1 hour and calcined at 700oC for 2 hours to produce RHA with 99.67 % wt SiO2 composition. SynProject parameters, e.g. solvent type, pH adjustment, amount of water, crystallization time, and product washing were investigated. X-ray powder diffraction indicated that products possess hexagonal structure. Moreover, increasing aging time and decreasing amount of water gave more crystalline product.
